THREE COMMENTS
By Ines Van Damme

Breeding dogs is a wonderful hobby that includes innumerable interesting aspects, it is a hobby that fills the life of many persons, a hobby that gives happiness because of the love that we receive from the big friend of humans called dog. In reality it is also a world full of hate, bloodthirsty breeders who try to make life of colleagues impossible, even try to harm others dogs. This happens in many breeds and especially in the Fila World.

There are some persons in this Fila World who never admitted the fact that mixbreeding took place in the seventies and the eighties. In spite of all the proves they hide this cynofile crime and keep on spreading misinformation. They are like a small clan, making a lot of noise abroad, because in Brazil they are not considered as representative for the breed, to say it soft. What counts is only their own interest, their commercialism, without respecting the truth when it does not fit them, and without respecting other opinions.

I want to state explicit that I adore the Brazilian people in general. During my several journeys in Brazil I had wonderful experiences with them.

Unfortunately every country has his black sheep.

I will publish now three comments I wrote last year as a reaction to some occurrences that caused excitement in the Fila World.

JUSTICE IS DONE

The sad truth is that the world of noble animals, like dogs and horses, does not only belong to honest and good willing people, but is - unfortunately - attractive for questionable individuals. As most insiders know, there are a few mix breeders in our Fila scene, who do not hesitate to spread lies about important historical personalitiesand even make them ridiculous.

One of them is Mr. Romero da Costa Machado, who during the eighties was the president of the “Associação dos criadores do Fila Brasileiro Estado do Rio de Janeiro” and the owner of the “Das Leoas” Kennel in Rio de Janeiro.

June 14 of 1989 he was condemned to 6 months of prison because of slandering the president and some members of the CBKC.

July 18 of 1989 he was sentenced in Rio de Janeiro for 7 months of detention because of another case of slander.

In the nineties he was owner of a dog newspaper named “Best in Show”, that was not –as a certain mix breed clan wanted to believe – from the official CBKC organization.

The insults, done in this newspaper, were rude and impertinent.

A critic commenting about his book from the 80’s had this to say:
-The style of a Hun and the sense of revenge of a Sicilian Mafia.
Let this say enough about the tenor of Machado´s writings.

In May 2001, the disciplinary Commission of the CBKC suspended Mr. Machado from the CBKC for a period of five years because of moral damage. Justice is done!

Why do I spread this news???????? It is because of one of his letters about Dr. Paulo Santos Cruz, in which he is violating the truth, is currently being spread by some newcomers. I found this letter in the Internet, and it was printed in some club magazines, from which the editors are not informed about the real history of the Fila.

In my opinion a historical person like Dr. Paulo Santos Cruz deserves only respect.

The essence is the eternal during fight between mix breeders and followers of the pure breed. To justify the breeding of the Filas with influence of Mastino Napolitano and Mastiff, the questionable individuals can go very far…………..

Mr. Machado went too far…………Justice is done.

A certain Mr. Adriano Budri, son of the ex judge Mrs. Clelia Kruel, is another example of Fila terrorism. The Fila Brasileiro message board owned by Marko Nurminen of the Higienopolis Kennel was a place where Fileiros from all over could discuss their matters. Mr. Budri used this board to start fights and to insult everybody or every organization in defense of pure Fila. Fila lovers asked the owner for a ”free Budri message board”. March 25 of the year 2001 Mr. Adriano Kruel Budri was banned from the board for the period of 1 month because of: ATTACKING PERSONS, BREEDERS, OWNERS, DOGS, CLUBS, THE STATE OF MINAS GERAIS AND SPAIN.

Mr. Budri continued his writings under a false name and the sad result of all this was the closing of the messageboard by Marko Nurminen.

The Kruel websites and the FBA website were removed from the links of the Higienopolis site.

ABOUT MY BOOK, (posted by Ines van Damme on 3/23/2001)

Usually I don’t post on messageboards. The reason I do it now, is because of clarifying the shower of impertinent reactions by Mr. Budri.

I crossed the ocean several times to visit the homeland of the Fila Brasileiro, I visited breeders and personalities of CAFIB, CBKC and ACB in the States of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Pernambuco and Ceará.

I took a lot of pictures, made notes, received important documents and taped all the conversations. The Brazilian Fila people received me with open arms and they were very polite and helpful, as Brazilians normally are.

A Spanish editor asked me to write a book about the Fila Brasileiro.

After publishing this book, I asked my Brazilian friends in CBKC and CAFIB to give comments, to criticize wherever necessary, this is a normal procedure, called constructive review.

I do not ask, neither in public, nor privately impertinent misinterpretation of my words. For this reason I regret that my book is not available in English to let the readers of this board see themselves the manipulations Mr. Budri is doing.

Even more than this violation of my words, I object the insults to everybody who is my friend or against every historical person I admire.

I have never heard about anybody in other countries slandering the pioneers of his/her national breed, Mr. Budri as a bad Brazilian does. I am sorry for him that he did not visit José Gomes when he was still alive. I had to cross the ocean, for him it would have been about 5 hours in car. That applies also the other old breeders in Minas. Mr. Budri was not there but of course, he has his opinion about them. The important material I collected there and in other places, even serves a Brazilian author who works on a Fila book.

About CAFIB: according to Mr. Budri I am a Cafibian. This is not true, I am not a CAFIB member, I am independent of any club and in my book I clearly explain that for me there is only one type of politic, the one of the pure and the authentic Fila. And this Fila can be found in and outside CAFIB.

The continual attacks on CAFIB by Mr. Budri are funny. When this organization is that insignificant, as Mr. Budri asserts, why does he give such a lot of energy in fighting it? Yes, this small flea in the coat of a mixbreeder can cause a terrible itch that much that Mr. Budri suffers an incurable allergy.

To my opinion CAFIB is the best thing that happened to the Fila, as a consequence of the mixbreeding that destroyed big part of the breed. CAFIB has always been a minority and will never be big because their rules are too rigid for the majority of the breeders, but is not “moribund”. The latest news is that many old breeders are coming back. In reality the war between the CAFIB and the CBKC does not exist any more. Mr. Budri makes believe the opposite. Probably because this version suits him and his mixbreeder theories. A small example that “war is over”, During my first trip in 1994, I was received by Mr. De Lucena, ex president of the CBKC, (who admitted in 1984 in an official letter the mixbreeding and the premature closing of the Initial Register) together with Mr. Peltier de Quieroz (CAFIB). So the two biggest enemies of the old times were together, drinking coffee and were talking about the history of the breed.

Since 1994 CBKC accepts CAFIB pedigrees, however as a Register pedigree.

There are no problems with inscription of these pedigrees, as Mr. Budri wants to believe. He should control his sources a bit better.

About displasia control:

In my book I talk about a reunion of CAFIB breeders and some CMCFB breeders, discussing displasia control. There was no official agreement, and only the most responsible breeders did this control.

For Mr. Budri it proves that Mr. Olegário Bretas Ferreira and Mrs. Marilia Barroso Pentagna do not control displasia. This conclusion has no basis at all. And was invented by him.

As a matter of fact these breeders do control displasia and it was the originator Mrs. Marilia Barroso Pentagna who was hostess for all the breeders on her fazenda.

So why does Mr. Budri say those ill-based things? Why does he want to spread negative information, better said lies, about good willing fellow breeders?

According to him in my book the CMCFB does not control hip displasia, while everybody can read that the club obliges the members to do so.

In one of his comments Mr. Budri asserts that I am a commercial partner of Mrs. Pentagna and Mr. Olegario. I am a Fila lover, breed a few litters a year and I am not familiar with dog business. Mr. Budri would better apologize for his insults.

About black:

I do believe that black comes from crosses with Mastino Napolitano and Great Dane.

I did not run from describing black Filas, (and did not feel “obliged” to mention the birth of blacks in Holland, only because they are registered.) I mention facts, explain where it comes from and give the different opinions of the people who were involved in that period.

This is working in an objective way and not hiding things because it would fit opinions.

I mention facts, if they “suit” me or not. I am objective and honest.

To my opinion Mr. Budri is the opposite of that.

It is not my intention to get involved in never ending discussions on this board.

I had to react on the incredible nonsense that Mr. Budri was writing about me and about my book. It is sad that this man behaves in this way; he is loosing all his credibility among the experienced Fila people. The newcomers to the breed are not able to distinguish between the good, the bad and the negative fanatism of his words, and this does not help to get them reliable knowledge.

What to do with Mr. Budri, a man who is rude and bad educated?

Send him to hell? I think that also without me it will be his final destination. Already now he is sinking deeper and deeper in the swamp of evil.

I think it is better to pray for him, because a person who’s life is so much dominated by hate, blind fanatism and negative energy probably will not change and will hardly find peace in his soul. And this is what I wish to everybody, friend and enemy, peace and happiness because life is beautiful.

I posted above message because it was not possible to keep silence after the shower of unfounded injuries done by this blind fanatic person. The same opinion was the reason of a mail spread by the owner of “Portal do Fila” (a general Fila Brasileiro information website in Brazil). This website is hosting various sites from Fila breeders, all over the world, who defend different points of views about the breed. One might say that this sounds very democratic. What happened is that because of hosting some websites that belong to CAFIB supporters, Mr. Budri started a fight.

Until the year 2000 the “Portal do Fila” hosted two sites of the Kruel family: The site of the “do Camping Kennel” and the site of the FBA (Fila Brasileiro Association). At the National Fila Brasileiro Show in the State of Sao Paulo at the end of the year 2000, the PRESIDENT OF THE CBKC and the PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL FILA COMMISSION asked the owner of the Portal do Fila to remove both sites. Reason: they considered the work of the Kruel family harmful to the breed and did not like their “dog business “, buying litters in Brazil for resale in the U.S.A. The president of the CBKC does not recognize the FBA. After consulting the breeders at the Show, who agreed with the two presidents, the Kruel sites were removed from the “Portal do Fila”. The opinion from the majority of the Brazilian breeders about Adriano Budri is:

  • “like a cancer of the Fila Brasileiro breed who never did something effective for the breed and is only taking advantage of the quarrels between breeders.”
  • “he denigrates breeders who do not sell him their puppies. “
  • “he did not do anything positive for the breed, he only destroyed, like a virus“

In spite of all these negative opinions, Mr. Budri goes on sending his low level E mails to many people. Really more than one fileiro sent him to the couch of the psychologist and after receiving different offending mails, they closed their computer for him. A Spanish messageboard asked him to move.

From the son to the mother: Clelia Kruel, born in Brazil, living now in the U.S.A. where it is more practical to export Filas all over the world (she wrote to a Spanish Fila lover in 1991).

November 1993 Mrs. Kruel wrote me a letter proposing me a business: a black Fila pup for me and for her $ 600, -- plus a top quality pup of a Spanish breed. I answered her not to be interested and told her that Spain was not the country for black Filas. This was the beginning of several attacks, a letter written to the Kennel Club, letters to the Molosser Club, all of this to complain about the opinion of Spanish Fileiros and to promote black Fila.

In my book I spoke about the Fila in the U.S.A. and I reproach Mrs. Kruel – who introduced the Fila in the U.S.A. – with the fact that she did hide the history of the mixbreeding for the Americans. I have not been the first to blame her for the Fila type that is far from the Standard of the breed. In the eighties various authors wrote about it in the German Molosser Magazine.

When I showed the manuscript of my book to several Fila friends, I have been warned for the revenge of Mrs. Kruel. From motives of principle I did not change anything. My book surely hit a nerve, the reaction of Mrs. Kruel was her writing ”the ninth commandment”.

COMMENTS from INES VAN DAMME
upon Mrs. Kruel´s “Ninth Commandment”

First of all I think that Mrs. Kruel better does not touch a biblical text. From the mouth of a woman that shows during many years a personal hate to me because of promoting pure Fila, it really sounds hypocrite.

About the title of my book: Tikal Ediciones, develops a big series of dog and animal books.
The dog books have the name “El nuevo libro del …………” (The new book of……) and the books over 400 pages have the name “El gran libro del ……..”
(The big book of……)

I did not like this idea so much because of the title of the book of Prof. Procopio do Valle, but the editor did not have the intention to change one title of the series. Further the “do Valle” book was published in 1981 in Brazil and is sold out. The language of the two books is different;
“O grande livro do Fila Brasileiro”
“El gran libro del Fila Brasileño”.

There is not much creativity in the titles of dog books.
In any catalogue one can find names that show similarity.
I edited a book in Dutch language in 1993.
Title: Fila Brasileiro

The book of Y. Uroshevich in the USA has exactly the same title. So what?
Mrs. Hirsch Reiter in Austria published two books with the title
“O Fila”, the same title as the “O Fila” bulletin collection of CAFIB.
I did not hear any protest.
The word “plagiarism” used by Mr. Budri, the son of Mrs. Kruel in the case of book titles seems rather exaggerated to say it soft.

Filas in Spain:

Mrs. Kruel seems disturbed about the fact that I state that the best Filas are in Spain and Minas Gerais. Already in the eighties, the famous judge Mr. Habig stated that the best Filas (apart of Brazil) were in Spain. This because of a correct and homogeneous type to be found all over. And this same statement could be heard from the mouth of different judges from abroad until now. Minas Gerais ”the cradle of the breed” also has an enormous quantity of good Filas from the old lines.

My statement does not mean that there are no good Filas in other parts, it only means that groups of homogenous, correct Filas can be found in these two parts of the world.

The people who offend about this, may be know deep in their heart that something is wrong with what they own. No need to be a psychologist to come to that conclusion.

CAFIB Standard.

Mrs. Kruel thinks that I am preaching to follow the CAFIB Standard. As a matter of fact there is not so much difference between the CAFIB and the CBKC Standard. Only the way to approach mixbreeding is treated in a different way, and the height and color are different. With the CBKC standard in hand, it is possible to set apart the mixbreed dogs. This all depends from the standard interpretation of the judge (fixed on pureness or educated in the mixbreed period?).

Mixbreeding:

Mrs. Kruel is making a mixed salad of the mixbreeding facts.

There are two types of mixbreeding: unintentional on the old fazendas, and intentional by unscrupulous breeders.

First of all, the Fila in the fazendas, in general, were mating among each other, also with other breeds, because most owners did not handle any breeding programs.

So it was possible to find Filas of the type that fits in the actual Standard and Filas with influence of all kinds of breeds.

About mid seventies, some unconscious breeders tried to change the rustic type of the authentic Fila into an animal that was more attractive for them to commercialize.

They crossed the pure Fila with Great Dane, Mastino Napolitano and with Old English Mastiff. Apart of many proves – spoken and written – the main prove of this whole disgusting history is the fact that as a committee inside the CBKC was founded the CAFIB (Commissão do Aprimoramento do Fila Brasileiro). The analysis of type for the stock of the whole country was feared by the mixbreeders, who were the majority. The members of the CBKC commission CAFIB split from the CBKC and changed the name of the Commission into Club do Aprimoramento do Fila Brasileiro (CAFIB). They analyzed thousands of Filas, until today.

This is the real story about intentional mixbreeding. Unfortunately Mrs. Kruel – who knows about these facts, and who admitted this in one of her old articles – spreads misinformation now to defend her black breeding products.

Mrs. Kruel is supposing that the three journeys I made to Brazil are not enough to collect the whole story.

This statement is a sign of bad manners, and is the opposite of the opinion of Brazilian breeders, who always showed me their appreciation of doing all the trouble to come over to their country to learn about the Fila. What I did in Brazil was investigating journalism, after a lot of preparation. Seen the fact that a lot of Brazilians never took the trouble to travel for knowing the circumstances of the Fila, the observation of Mrs. Kruel is rude. - I know that she never visited the breeders in and around Belo Horizonte.

To show how serious Mrs. Kruel is, when writing books, I want to tell the following anecdote. In Rio de Janeiro, in the Museum of the Military Police one can find the stuffed body of the “National Hero” Brutus, forefather of the Fila, a dog that combated in the War against Paraguay in 1865. Mrs. Kruel mentions this dog in her book “All about the Fila Brasileiro” on page # 80, where she talks about his cut ears and about the fine work of a taxidermist. I personally went to see Brutus in the Museum in Rio de Janeiro and found a horrible stuffed dog with long ears. (See pictures on page #37 of my book)

So this means that Mrs. Kruel never visited this Museum and wrote nonsense.

BRUTUS
BRUTUS

She states that she was the first in X-raying het Filas. Fantastic, but I ask myself why there are such a few do Camping dogs on the OFA list. She says that CAFIB does not x ray. As a club, CAFIB does not oblige their members to x-ray, neither do other clubs, except the CMCFB in Belo Horizonte. A few breeders x-ray voluntary.

Big American Filas.

Mrs. Kruel says that Brazilian judges observed “dogs larger and heavier due to the special food and supplements the Americans give to their dogs”.

I will never deny that because of good food underdeveloped animal breeds and human populations improve in strength en height, but in this case it is rather funny to see that American dogs developed that quickly. (until 30kg. heavier than a normal Fila and much more bigger. Congratulations !!!) Does Mrs. Kruel think that in Brazil dog food is in short supply? I have seen a lot of pet shops in Brazil and there is plenty of dog food, national as well as from the famous international brands. Surely a lot of American Filas must have another ingredient: the gene of the Old English Mastiff!

Filas with influence of the Mastino Napolitano.

Mrs. Kruel could have saved her energy by pointing out the differences between a Fila Brasileiro and a Mastino Napolitano. The dog in question “Antares do Camping” has the genes of surely two breeds. Ms. Kruel better studies the famous work written by Dr. Paulo Santos Cruz: “How to differentiate an unmixed Fila with a crossbred one” published in “O Fila” # 1, December 1978.

As an ex – judge (she is recently excluded from the board of CBKC judges) she should see that the proportions of Antares are not correct. I took the picture of Antares as an example because the inside Fila world knows that she is the responsible for this wrong type in the U.S.A.

The ninth commandment is the reason that Mrs. Kruel did not tell the American Fila lovers about the intentional mixbreed period. Or maybe it was against her commercial interest to make the Americans wiser?

Mrs. Kruel talks about her bitch “Nubia do Samor” and says this bitch is half Samor – half Parnapuan. Funny, only 2 of the 8 great grandparents of Nubia are Parnapuans.

I feel sorry for Mrs. Kruel, but I own a rather impressive collection of old pedigrees.

And why brag about “Fera de Parnapuan” as an ancestor of her old lines? Fera was an Initial Register dog. Quite a contradiction when bashing fazenda Filas.

Orixa do Kirongozi.

Ever seen correct offspring from Orixa ???? I didn’t. I had offspring from Orixa in my kennel in the first half of the nineties. I had to put this dog apart from breeding because of the atypical pups.

Here comes the story that Paulo Santos Cruz awarded Orixa in several shows.

This story is loved by the haters of CAFIB and by people that cannot show a minimum of respect to a man who did so much for the breed. The simple fact is that Dr. Paulo Santos Cruz judged Orixa while he was still FCI judge and he played the rules of the game. Later, in CAFIB he put Orixa on the list of not typical dogs.

Every moment the Kruel family and their friend Mr. Machado - who was expelled from the CBKC in may 2001 because of mental damage – come with this story. I am sure that at the end this story will do more harm to them than to the late Dr. Paulo.

And again the Kruel clan comes with the absolutely big lies about the “black” Zumbi, which Dr. Paulo should have bred. Again and again: Kruel family, please do investigations and stop your lies.

There were two Zumbis de Parnapuan. The first one was black, bought in a fazenda, (not bred by Dr. Paulo) and sold to somebody else. The registration of fazenda dogs in that period was done on own Kennel name. The copies of the documents are in my archive and in different Brazilian archives. The second Zumbi was brindle. Because of the stubborn gossip about this Zumbi, CAFIB published in a dog magazine the facsimile of the pedigree. (La grande mentire – the big lie)

Did Mrs. Kruel miss this issue? And didn’t she read that part of my book?

The stories about the different kennels are excerpts of the kennel descriptions in the book of Prof. Procopiodo Valle. In the story of the “Tapiocanga Kennel” we see again the description of the Fila with the green eyes. As an ex judge Mrs. Kruel should know that this is not typical for a Fila. This color comes from Great Dane and it explains why the offspring of this bloodline gave black and black an tan pups in the first Dutch litters.

In the description of the Samor Kennel, we can see that Mrs. Kruel cannot read well what I wrote or has too much fantasy.

In a description of the female “Uruce de Kirimau” I do not speak about a perfect pedigree. I speak about a perfect pedigree at the side of the mother. That is a big difference.

ABC dogs were in general good Filas, until the moment that the owner imported an Old English Mastiff and put him as a stud in his Kennel. The owner admitted the crossbreeding himself. Further one can read that an older dog in one of the ABC bloodlines had Mastiff influence (book Procopio do Valle).

ABC had an enormous production and of course a lot of those dogs are found in the older pedigrees.

Mrs. Kruel does not understand why I use dogs that have only two generations in the pedigree. It is a pity that a “famous” woman as Mrs. Kruel has such a lack of information. Every dog that gets inscription in a different system looses his genealogy.

So the CAFIB dogs that entered in the CBKC got only inscription of their parents.

I am very proud of the CAFIB pedigree of my dogs, very, very proud indeed.

CBKC dogs that enter into CAFIB loose all their genealogy. And does she talk about a Secondary Registration that is unfortunately allowed in CBKC? I think the Fila world should be glad with dogs that had litter control on phenotype during a lot of generations in CAFIB. The president of the CBKC who accepts these dogs is much wiser than Mrs. Kruel, who is only led by stupid hate.

About some imports in Germany:

I am sure that a lot of imports from the “Carolina” kennel and the “Tres Curumins” kennel did a lot of good for the Fila stock in Germany, much and much more than the few “do Camping” animals who did not come to breed.

And it is true that I said that Xango dos Tres Curumins in a certain period of German Fila life, was the best option for mating because of his good bloodline.

The continuous explanation (explanation while she does not even know the name of the father of Nagan do Amparo) of bloodlines in these Filas and in Filas used by Spanish Kennels and used by Boa Sorte, do not have any importance, seen the fact that it is known by every insider that the pedigrees of the mixbreed period cannot be trusted.

The rigorous analysis of type, done by CAFIB says a lot more about the pureness of the Filas than the pieces of paper- how interesting they may be – that are called pedigrees. Everybody knew, that the CAFIB pedigrees were honest and the rest was a lottery.

Cinza color

I explained everything about cinza in my book. It is not the first time that the Kruel clan is trying to cause confusion about “cinza” suggesting that this color is forbidden. When she had visited the breeders from Minas Gerais, to learn from them, she could have heard many times the word “cinza”. Also in old pedigrees this word is used as the color of the Fila.

“When you have a black dog with only one yellow stripe, he is considered a dark brindle, not a solid black one”

Sorry Mrs. Kruel, this is a mongrel, not a Fila. Most of the CBKC judges will disqualify it immediately.

Mrs. Kruel names the judge Mr. Habig, who visited Brazil in 1984. Mr. Habig visited CAFIB and CBKC kennels. He had a good conversation with the president of the CBKC Mr. Lucena, who gave him a letter for the readers of the Molosser Magazine in which he admitted the mixbreeding and the premature closure of the Initial Register. The mixbreeders Mafia in Säo Paulo got very upset about this and caused a scandal. I just checked what the newspaper “O Estado de São Paulo” wrote about it in 1984. (You should see my archive Mrs. Kruel !!!!) When Mrs. Kruel is referring to this period now, I can only say that she could better be ashamed about it and try to come to the reality of 2001. And referring to Mr. Habig, the Fila world owes him a lot. The work he did for the breed in his publications, is of utmost importance. And we only can be very grateful for what he did.

The most incredible disgusting movement the Kruel clan did is attacking my good friend Mr. Paulo Roberto Godinho.

Let’s see the motives of Mrs. Kruel: She is citing my book page 139:

“The CBKC did not bother about cleaning their own stable, at the contrary, the attacks against the “dissidents” of CAFIB went on”

This part is taken out of its context –a specialty of the Kruel family – it talks about the seminars by Dr. Paulo Santos Cruz everywhere in Brazil, that were disturbed in a very aggressive way by the mixbreeders maffia. I am talking about the “war”period between the two organizations - CBKC and CAFIB – in the eighties.

This – sad but true – is history, a history that I published in my book to let all those newcomers that this breed has (they come and go, come and go) and the ones, who do not have access to Portuguese archives, see what happened, and because of these explanations many Fila people are grateful.

I did not say that the actual CBKC is a stable; I used this expression to explain the tense situation of the past.

My dear friend Paulo Roberto Godinho, adviser of the board of directions of the CBKC and all round judge FCI, wrote the preface of my book. He opened his house for me, we worked together on different subjects and I am happy to know such a fine person. Mr. Godinho for being helpful to me, is now attacked by the Kruel clan.

She says “the stable has a disciplinary and ethical council that will take care of Mr. Godinho soon”.

The Kruel clan asked the CBKC to suspend him as a judge of the CBKC.

I am very glad to know that this impertinent movement of the Kruel clan did not have the result they wished. At the contrary, it could have a boomerang effect.

The writing of Mrs. Kruel called “The ninth commandment” was sent to many persons and to Molosser clubs all over the world.

I know some cases where the Kruel writing was considered as a piece of trash, at the other hand some Clubs lowered their bulletin into a gossip magazine by publishing it. One Club who published this Kruel letter was the CFB (Club der Freunde der Fila Brasileiro) in Germany. Publishing an article about a book that the editor of the bulletin cannot read and without asking the author of the concerning book for a reaction is not very correct.

I remember that the president of the CFB denied information about the early history of the breed in Germany to the CBKC judge and cynofile author and journalist Mr. Paulo Roberto Godinho for his book about the Fila Brasileiro. When the dog hate in Germany in the year 2000 became a serious thread for the life of the Fila Brasileiro and so many other breeds, members of the Club für Molosser e. V. asked my help for getting an official letter from the CBKC in defense of the breed. Mr. Paulo Roberto Godinho, a personal friend of the president of the CBKC and adviser foreign affairs for the board of directors of the CBKC was the man who wrote some good letters that have been very helpful to the breed in different countries. Mr. Godinho did not hesitate a second when help was asked, he did not take revenge to the Germans because of the denying of information for his book. Mrs. Kruel announced in her ”ninth commandment” that the “disciplinary and ethical counsel of the CBKC will take care of Mr. Godinho soon” only because of writing the preface of my book. The German CFB should have thought a bit better before publishing the Kruel trash where she offended a man who has been a big help for the breed in Germany during the period in which the “dangerous dog laws” menaced the life of the Filas.

Lack of intelligence or a high grade of impertinence? I really cannot find any explanation for such a behavior. The same applies to the presidents of the Czech Molosser Club and Czech Fila Brasileiro Club. The Onceiro Club used the CBKC (and also CAFIB) letters successfully in the Czech parliament to defend the breed.

Coming back now to the Kruel family. It is obvious that they are not the “voice of Brazil”, however some newcomers seem to be very impressed by them.
In spite of the presence of questionable individuals in the dog world, there will always be a group of honest breeders who will remain true to the Fila Brasileiro that was common before the mixbreed period that began in the seventies. It is not the easiest way to breed Fila, but it gives a lot of satisfaction and happiness.

Showing this article to some fileiros, I received some reactions:

From the U.S.A.:

“I agree with you. The individuals mentioned have never been concerned about whose name they denigrate nor whom they attack and who they hurt. It is about time that they are named for what they are, liars and more liars !! It appears to me that the kind, knowledgeable folks are usually silent about most things so in the end the newcomers end up listening to the people who speak the loudest and it is a real shame because it is always the Clelias and Budris with their lies etc.“

“I can definitely see a need for these types of information articles.

Thanks from a silent person.”

From Spain:

A friend, after receiving undesired mail from Mr. Budri used the famous words from “Cervantes”:
"A CADA CERDO LE LLEGA SU SAN MARTÍN"
This means: For every pig comes the day of San Martin
(San Martin is the day of the slaughter of the pigs), and these words are quite after my heart.
